The negative reviews don't reflect my experience at all at Joe's Diner. I ordered the biscuits & gravy, along with the smothered (onions) hash browns. The biscuits & gravy were the best I have ever had, and I liked that they put big chunks of onions in my hash browns (if you only like a little bit of onion in them then I would request lightly smothered). The service was timely, very friendly and accommodating. And as far as the hours I've heard that the place is 24-7 but the door says mon-sun 8am-2pm and we went a little after 9 and they were open. When we went by on sat they were closed at around 5:30 pm so I don't really know what the deal is with that.
Of late when we have grabbed breakfast in Blacksburg we have gone to Gillies which has very cool dishes, great service, and we have appreciated talking with the owner. But the place is always jammed packed, and based on that along with the outstanding time we had at Joe's we plan on making Joe's our go to place in the future.
My award is Best Biscuits & Gravy.

Joe's Diner advertises to be open 24 hours but decides to close whenever they please and blames it on their employees. The food is decent but there the only game in town so the service is extremely poor, slow in the kitchen and the ambience is a poor attempt of a 50's diner with a slack paint job. If your trying to use the bathroom you have to deal with the constant interruption b/c the management is to slack to fix the lock. You can barley read the menus due to the fact that they are photo copies with jam, water, and syrup spilt all over them. This town is in serious need of a Denny’s, waffle house, or any breakfast spot other than Joe’s.

My overall rating is OK, as in OK if you wanna go back to your dorm room or apartment and have a diarrhea blowout on the ol' toilet. Some people, like Alex V. of blacksburg, va, enjoy such 2-spot pee sessions, as he believes in a constantly cleansed colon. "I start every morning with a good spraying while receiving comfort from my cat. And to be clear, its a spray of the rectal variety," describes Alex. "However, if my body thinks it can start up on a trend of solid-dump sessions... it better think again. My secret weapon is Joe's Diner, where it all results in spray... guaranteed!"
I must caution anyone who chooses to brave the service/food/death metal offered by joes against bringing a large party of folks which plan to return to your residence immediately following your meal, as your toilet will most definitely be subject to unjust amounts of punishment. Over/Unders for blowouts resulting from a meal vary, but it could be estimated at roughly 12.5 minutes.
So go get you some Joe's Diner!!!! MMM MMM GOOD!!!

PS ***My award for "hugest dump" given to joes is of the liquid variety.. and its referring to what is caused roughly 12.5 minutes later***

Well, I don't know why Joe's gets such high ratings. I've been there twice, and the first meal was average (nearly $17 for two cheesburgers, fries, and soft drinks) and the steak was tough and the eggs dry for the second. Had to stand up and and basically throttle the waitress to get our check, even though there were only two other people in the diner. I won't be going back.
