Discovered The Bomber on Twitter when we searched "Ypsilanti" breakfast. We ordered the diner style coffee and homemade Corned Beef Hash and Eggs with a side of Nature Lover's Pancakes.
Generous servings. The hand-cut breakfast potatoes were crispy and tasted pretty good. The wait staff was friendly and attentive as they topped off our coffee cups.

Ridiculously large portions and the food is almost always awesome. My favorite thing to get is the Sunrise Biscuit Platter. It's sort of like biscuits and gravy jacked-up because it includes eggs and cheese and breakfast potatoes and the gravy that they make is so good.

It took 20 minutes for our order to be taken. An hour and 15 minutes to get food.
The airplanes and memorabilia are interesting.
Not enough to put up with the rude "manager"/waitress we endured who blamed us for asking where our food was after an hour.
We had a party of 6.
One "omelet" had what looked like cheese slices on it..
oatmeal was so old and soggy it must have sat in the window for over an hour..I have never seen oatmeal so soggy as if every ounce had soaked up as much water as it could.
All the food is very bad for you..old school cooking and the cooks were slower than paint coming out of a straw that is a year old.
Attitude is all the waitress gave us and told us "french toast cooking" was the reason our food was over and hour late and we had TO ASK over and over where out food was. She blamed people in te restaurant for ordering "frill food" then my friend for ordering a large omelet. It was all or fault a restaurant took over an hour to cook 6 meals..most of which were eggs.
The food was a 2 out of 10..and after being very hungry and served by thee rudest waitress/manager we have ever encountered in our lives...
we left disgusted and had to re-eat somewhere else. this is heart attack food and the carpets were stained and filthy.
The customers seemed nice..as well as some of the staff..never saw the owners but our waitress/manager as she called herself was so rude we would never go there again or recommend it to anyone.
The serving sizes are huge which is not good as it is all heart attack food. In a nation of obesity this place is serving up helpings of fat on a plate. Probably at one time it was a great place..not in 2010.
It ruined our entire day to have gone there and waited an hour and a half for food that was loaded with fat and a rude waitress the likes of which we have never seen in our lives. And one of the most expensive... for some reason... so not a value.

I am biased on this review, but wanted to give it anyway. My Great-Grandmother, Florence Baldwin was the original owner of this restaurant back in the 1930's.
I was so happy to see it come back as the Bomber Restaurant and that the new owners are keeping up the tradition. Many of my family members have eaten there and love the food and service.
My Grandparents also ran Dog-N-Suds and White Palace restaurants in the area in the 50's, 60's, and 70's.

Ok, this is not "a old fashioned diner". A true diner is like the one in Ann Arbor called the Fleetwood Diner. Here is what Wiki says:
"A diner is a prefabricated restaurant building characteristic of North America, especially in New England; New Jersey; Long Island, New York; and other areas of the Northeastern United States, although examples can be found throughout the US. Some people apply the term not only to the prefabricated structures, but also to restaurants that serve cuisine similar to traditional diner cuisine even if they are located in more traditional types of buildings. "
So The Bomber has diner style food...It is ok...the place is smoky and greasy. Waitresses were cool...They haven't had good health inspections though...

The Bomber is an old-fashioned diner, started in 1936 and first called The Bomber in the 40's when they built B24 bombers at nearby Willow Run. Stick to ordering classic diner meals (not eggs benedict for heavensake) I recommend the corned beef hash--homemade with skillet browned potatoes, bits of onion and green pepper and cubes of corned beef. The pancakes are not my style--too thick and heavy with maple-flavored corn syrup--but many people like them. Good service even when very busy. Our waitress brought ice water without our having to ask. Coffee refills were prompt, portions large and cheap, and everyone was nice.

I'm a local who frequents The Bomber a couple times a month. The wait staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. The food is GREAT... and the atmosphere FUN. I'd recommend this place as a special treat to people coming in from other locations.
And James,...... who does an awesome job of cleaning tables and making people feel welcome, is the best. Wouldn't mind hearing from HIM :) (any chance you can pass along my email address?)

The Bomber is my favorite breakfast place. The Bomber Breakfast is now world famous, but they have plenty of great selections. The pancakes are wonderful, but make sure to order a half order, you can't finish a full order. I highly recommend!

I am not a big breakfast eater so the "bomber" is out for me. My husband loves it. They have other items that are just as good. I like their crabmeat omellette & their poached eggs. Everything is cooked perfect. The ham is thick slicked and the potatoes are REAL and fresh. The bomber is our favorite

I had the Bomber Breakfast. You have to be a man to finish this appetite challenge. Of course I was not up to the task. I finished about half of this, but not because of a lack of effort. A pound of hash browns, eggs, and a pound of bacon, plus toast is more then any human being who is planning on living to his life expectancy should ingest. But it was fun making the effort. The bacon was a little overcooked, but this made it easier to gorge.

They have... the BOMBER BREAKFAST. It takes a B-52 to drop this plate on the table, it's huge! A POUND of potatoes, a POUND of meat (sausage links or patties, ham or bacon), and 4 eggs! Plus toast, of course. It took me an hour to get through 1/4 of this meal, and I barely touched it. Not only was this the biggest breakfast I ever made the attempt to eat, but it was very tasty and quick!
