We never got a chance to write a review of this place, but we enjoyed our two visits here. It was torn down a while back and everybody thought it was to make room for the widening of the road. But some commercial building was built in it's place. What a waste. Dover Diner was a mainstay and was missed. Somewhere it was said that the diner was going to be moved but I never heard anything about it resurfacing. Incidentally they tore down another fine restaurant to make way for this. The Dover Mall is nearby and is an eyesore. Hopefully someday they will do something about it. But it's got to be part of a bigger project including the traffic flow where route 166 crosses rout 37. A dangerous intersection.

Dude, change is fine when necessary, but when it's based on greed and the addition of yet another 21st century spit and styrofoam "building" project, we can all do without it. I mean if you really need to slap up another piece of trash, replace a piece of 1970s or 80s garbage. Not a classic piece of history. Have a soul.

I'll miss the Dover Diner. If it resurfaces that is great. I especially love the comments by people who never want change. If they had their way we would still be hunting dinosaurs and sleeping on cave floors.

CLOSED!! Ground has been leveled to make way for widening of Route 166. The diner car itself was taken away before destruction and may open somewhere else. STAY TUNED!!

Good Bye for now Dover Diner, hopefully It'll find a new location and continue a quaint piece of history for Toms River. Sunday March 30 it closed its doors, but not before I had the best omelette and fond farewells with all the customers who came to talk about the specialness the diner had.

One of the best diners anywhere! Once again the powers that be, on their endless greed-driven quest for power has put aside history. The Dover has been a part of Toms River for decades and deserves to stay. A save the Dover rally is definitely in order-- what do you sy, let's do it!!!

Sad to here this place is closing March 1, 2008.
Portions are generous. I couldn't finish my omlette, it looked like it was made with at least four eggs! Home Fries are nice and crispy. Get there before they are gone forever.

I love this place. Cute little old fashioned diner with really good food. If I could go to any diner in the state on a Sunday morning it would be the Dover Diner.
