I have ate there many times. Breakfast was always good. Lunch is great and you get to find out what is going on in town from the Mayor and his entourage. We would have dinner there a lot, the hot open sandwiches smothered in gravey are awesome. The help is always very friendly and give quick service. The cream of chicken soup is out of this world! When I go back to NJ, I always stop in for a meal. Unfortunatly, there are no real diners in North Carolina for us.

I believe this was originally called Ray's Diner. The food has been great for over 50 years! An American landmark and one of the reasons to get up early for a fisherman's breakfast or a piled high Taylor Ham and egg roll with cheese. Yumm!

I get the joke about the waitresses. I was looking forward to eating at this place based on previous reviews. Nothing special though. Food is just OK. I wouldn't go back again. Earlier reviews were from 2004-2005 so maybe things have changed since then. When we were there several of the help were passing around a baby for everyone to see. I guess it belonged to a customer or former employee. Either way it wasn't appropriate for an eating establishment.

waitresses extremely beautiful, scantly clad, comparable to hooters or delilahs den, food awesome and fairly priced, coffee best in the area home fries and clam chowder,and the chili lets not forget the chili, well its to die for dont forget this place in your travels

The food here is always fresh, reasonably priced and the service is exactly what you should get in a diner. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They are also open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday nights. During the week 5am till 11pm. Try their lunch specials they are excellent, where else can you get a sandwhich, fresh fruit or fries and all the delicious coffee you can drink for under $6.00. in NJ! Not to mention that this dinner is an original piece of art - it is a real old fashioned tin can diner.
