Bread and Porridge is my fave spot in the good old USA for a real stick to your ribs start off. In "Merry Old" we can't get those coffee presses with out paying through the nose!

Heavenly rashers of bacon at Bread and Porridge! But come early or you really will have to wait.

I was recently visiting Santa Monica from New York and wanted to see what all the fuss about this place was about. The place seems to be going for the Soho feel, but it falls a bit short. After waiting almost 1 and 1/2 hours for breakfast (I'm now ashamed to admit this fact!), I found that, while not bad, the food was not worth the wait. The coffee is just average and what they call an omelet is just a couple fried eggs on top of the ingredients that should be folded into a real omelet. The wait staff was friendly. One can apparently call ahead to make a reservation the same day that you will be eating there. The place might be worth visiting again without waiting so long or paying so much (and this is coming from a guy who lives in Manhattan). All and all - average.

Always delicious and busy! Cute, tight quarters, however, the space next door became available, and wisely, they are expanding. No problem with refills. Staff is pleasant.

Cool menu selection, awesome strong coffee. The only drawback is parking and having to wait on the sidewalk until your table is ready. There's always a long line of people for this place. It's a cute but tiny cafe. The food is worth it though. *If the line is too long then go to the other breakfast place about 2 doors down. I heard this is what many impatient people do.
