The food was very sub-par. The hashbrown potatoes were undercooked and the eggs were over cooked. I was very disappointed!

What a great place to eat. The food is even better with the new owner who introduced herself as Dana Fitzgerald. I understand Dana has been in the catering business for sometime and wanted to try her hand in the restaurant side of the house. Terrific food with great prices. Daily specials that are just like home, but better! Clean as a whistle and the staff is all very friendly and willing to please. I recommend this place highly with even better service and food!

Started by Mike and Debi Barton (now on the road, taking their beloved recipes to partying students on the beaches of the Florida coast and points beyond), this cozy & humble (but very clean for a spoon) strip mall mom & pop storefront is the darling of working folk, foodies and strapped families looking for nosh on the cheap. They serve only breakfast and lunch (brunch on weekends), and no single item even approaches the tens column. One would be hard-pressed to be so hungry as to eat in double figs, in fact, unless you were to double up on the fine homemade (not "imported") deserts.
Know that there is a decidedly spicy bent here as the founders hail from the American Southwest. One day a week, lunch is devoted to Mexican/Southwestern-inspired food, and there is a rack of hot sauces within the diner's reach for ease of dollop. Even hotter fare sit bottled behind the counter, for the true chileheads. But lest you fear, not ALL the food here is zippy and that which isn't is handled which equal culinary aplomb for the Scoville-timid.
But it's morning vittles this space is all about, and it IS with this fare that Barton's has reeled in its loyal & steady following (lines out the door on weekends). The breakfast burrito is their signature offering and it is worthy: a white wrap, bacon egg, avocado, salsa & cheese of your choice (cheddar, Swiss, and a superb pepper Jack come to mind)
Mike used was a caterer on movie sets in Los Angeles, the breakfast burrito was developed so people could work, move about and munch simultaneously. The burrito (about 3 bucks) alone is oversized and fills its plate. For about 50% they'll throw in spuds of yer choice (home fries or hash browns) AND yer choice of fresh sliced tomatoes (in season) or fruit.
Their biscuits & gravy know no equal. Perfect buttermilk puffs, both flaky to crunchy on the outside and pillowy luscious on the in, are doused in THE most sublime pork sausage gravy that definitely showcases a chile-infused wallop. You won't pick yer jaw off the ground, but you'll prolly break a sweat. This is worth wiping the crust outta yer eyes for.
Breakfast is an all-day affair, which ends around 2pm or so, but lunch kicks in as well at Noon with daily specials (plus weekend specials during brunch, and I'm here to tell you that the crabmeat - it's real, not surimi - and asparagus variant of their already fabulous Eggs Benedict is to die for.). There is a little punch in the exquisite homemade hollandaise (no Knorr's packet in sight), not a lot, for the squeamish, but enough to make it interesting.
Expect atmosphere, though, since Debi, who was the front-of-the-"dive" hostess, left to go on the sabbatical with hubby, most of that lovable curmudgeonliness is absent. But it is still big on friendly & unassuming.
The place is teensy, so don't dally if you want specials, especially on weekends, they run out and you WILL wait for seats unless you get there at the crack of the rooster's cackle.
