I have traveled far and wide to get the best breakfast and must admit, I make the best and this place has no idea. The people that are commenting a positive experience at the Maine Diner are either employees or have never left their counties and do not know about a good breakfast....

I am a local and have been going to the Maine Diner for years. I must admit it is one of my favorite places to eat around here. Yes, it is crowded in the summer, that's our tourist season, no doubt you'll wait an hour, but in my opinion, it's worth it! The place could be bigger all around, but they are working with what they have.
I've enjoyed many a wonderful breakfasts here, especially the Almond Encrusted French Toast, yummy...and their breakfast Burrito is great too. All of the Benedicts they serve are outstanding as well.
I even invite you to try lunch and dinner. They have fabulous Diner food and one of the best Baked Stuffed Haddocks around, and if you like Pulled Pork, you'll be delighted. The mac & cheese is amazing and the Kahuna Tuna melt hits the spot!
As far as the staff at the Maine Diner, they are nice...as long as YOU are nice too! You get back what you put out there in the world! Commenting on the last 2 opinions, Everyone makes mistakes and I've had hair in my food at The Four Seasons, it happens everywhere. If there is an issue, just let them know, they have always responded respectfully to me.
One last thing...If you like corn muffins, you must have one here. They come with most meals and are simply delicious with the honey butter!
Please everyone, don't be put off by negative reviews, just try it. It's a Maine experience!

I was on vacation with my family and took my grandmother out to eat for breakfast, I was surprised to see a breakfast place still serving breakfast at noon in Wells. Anyway, after driving around for an hour we came upon a diner called the Main Diner and according to Time warner cable they are Mains best breakfast, That is untrue information. After 20 minutes of trying to help my nana get into the restaurant due to the large size of her scooter car we were forced into a small seating area back by the bathrooms with about 3 inches of seating space, now I am a small man and I could not fit between the table the the wall, some tourists laughed at us. So when we are finally ready to order we get our drinks the waitress was nice it is not her fault she works at a dump. The menu was chalk full of ridiculous breakfast combination's like blueberry pancakes and eggs but nothing else...or coffee toast and one bacon strip...WTF?
So I order like three meals just so I could get what I want, they then informed me the kitchen and grill were not of the correct size to accommodate such an order, so I said, WHAT? Then why do you offer these things? SO I get my food all three plates on a tiny T.V tray size table (I am surrounded by elderly people and tourists all loudly asking for tapioca pudding and a side of beats with everything) with seating for six of us and now two of us are the size of four of us so you can clearly imagine the struggle with which I was facing in only eating my breakfasts (3). Now, I am not the kind of man who complains but please can you keep your hair out of my pancakes? Really the fact that they had a small kitchen so separate checks was out of the question. The pancakes were rubber the eggs were undercooked but the bathroom was huge, maybe they could shave some space off of that in order to enlarge the kitchen to accommodate paper checks.

I will start this off on a positive note, the restaurant was Handi-capable until you got inside. There was a huge ramp for my chair car, however, i smashed into a bunch of chairs trying to get to the table (clearly made for small humans) in the corner by the Mens room because it was either sit there or sit separate (I don't know about you but I like to sit with the people I go out with when I go to a restaurant). Seated behind us were a large group of Cape-Codians who would not move out of the way so we could comfortably sit. Then a half an hour later when we were able to sit, we got a drink. The waitress was pretty quick. Then, we ordered food... First I asked for separate checks, because we were both paying with credit cards, but were told they could not do that because the kitchen was too small. I don't know what that means. Then, my best friend and roommate Alice asked for her corned beef to be crisp, she was told they were not sure if they could accommodate that request due to the small kitchen. When the food came out, surprisingly her corned beef was crisp, but it came with a surprise... HAIR.. YUM. She ended up getting two plates of hash because the waitress failed to inform her that hash came with the meal. All of the silverware, plates and cups were dirty, so I had to drink out of a straw, which by the way I had a tooth removed yesterday and am not supposed to be drinking out of a straw due to dry socket. Then, eating the food and trying to keep it down, I noticed a wad of gum on the picture behind me on the wall. Then, when we were through, they charged an extra penny to my bill, when clearly it said $25.19 and I was charged $25.20. The penny is not the point, it is just rude. Needless to say I will NEVER eat there again. I didn't take my food home, and even if I had a dog, I still wouldn't. The pancakes were rubbery, and the eggs were undercooked, and I mean the hair. So anyways, take it from an older woman who has been around the block, this restaurant is HORRIBLE. Kudos to you and your rotten egg award.

I look forward to going to the Maine Diner every year when we are in Kennebunkport. It reminds you each time what good diner food is all about. The help is super. Expect to wait especially on the weekends. They have a nice little store to shop in next door to kill some time while you are waitin'.

I have NEVER been let down at the Maine Diner. My top two breakfast choices are "2's are Wild"...2 eggs, 2 blueberry pancakes, 2 sausage, s bacon, 2 toast and hash browns, and my runner-up is the "Irish Benedict" . The wait staff is the best!!

The food was greasy and had the texture of rubber. I felt like a sardine in a can. All out of state cars. Not worth the wait or the money!

The Maine Diner has excellent food, serves breakfast all day. I especially love the homemade southern style biscuits and sausage gravy. The service is outstanding, best waitresses around, everyone makes you feel like you are right at home!!
