O'Rourke's Diner
At north end of Main Street -- on a rotary that leads to the Portland Bridge if you're not careful.

I've heard and seen all the hype regarding this establishment and decided to take the family there for a "quality" breakfast. The wait staff was good and they did anticipate the need to get some food into my two little boys before they became monsters but the courses served didn't match the menu listings (i.e., bangers implies a couple links but instead one link cut in half, three egg omellete with either 3 small eggs or 2 eggs with water added to stretch it paper thin). Overall the main dishes served to my party were fairly bland or basic and resembled nothing like the advertisment or expectations based on reviews read. Sadly, I've tasted better from sitdown chain restaurants and can not recommend O'Rouke's Dinner.

Absolutely delicious breakfast for my birthday! The place was packed, we had to wait a quick minute outside to get a seat, but that seems pretty common. Awesome selection of irish breakfast choices. Delicious breads, yummy coffee, great hash. The menu choices for lunch and dinner look delicious too. Would love to go back!

This diner is the best there is. A overwhelming variety of quality food. Since the rebuild the interior looks even better. This place always was a classic and always will be. Glad to have O'Rourkes back after the fire.

Great diner building (one of the old metal ones), interesting mix of people -- college students and profs from nearby Wesleyan University, non-university locals of all types, truckers, you name it. Huge menu of breakfast stuff including corned beef hash that's made there, "custom" pancakes with various kinds of fruit, a long, long list of omelette variations, lots of good veggie options (including a tofu scramble). I live in Illinois now, but when I go to CT, I always go back to O'Rourke's.
