Great place, unfortunately it was sold to new owners who turned it into a latin restaurant. It is now closed.

What ever happened to Grama Grippo's? Did they move? Went back in 2006 and they were gone! Miss those peach-puff pancakes and the French Toast.

Between the two of us, my husband and I have tried everything on the breakfast menu at this little hidden gem of a restaurant. We drove about 30-40 minutes every weekend from South Tampa to eat here, and we grew to consider the owner Tony and his staff like family. When you see Tony, tell him Kat and George say hi. We've since moved away and have yet to find that special breakfast place in California that we can call "home."
Now, about the menu: The benedicts are to die for - so good they changed me from a benedict-hater to their most devoted convert! The puffed peach pancake is otherworldly in its perfection, and bananas foster french toast will delight your palate! I may be alone in this, but I thought their coffee was fine, and better than you'll find at most Tampa establishments.
True the decor is country and a little kitschy, but the true ambience of Grama Grippo's is not in the decor. The ambience is the feeling of being on a first name basis with everyone who worked there, and being welcomed back with warm smiles.

Since moving here many years ago from Minneapolis, I've searched for a replacement to my all-time favorite breakfast place - The Original Pancake House. OPH has everything a real breakfast place needs: cozy booths offer some privacy, very good coffee that gets refilled without having to request it and above all else - excellent egg and pancake offerings. Grama Grippo's is the closest I've come in Tampa to a real breakfast house. While they lack the ambiance of OPH, and their coffee while far better than other local joints still tastes like it's made from Tampa water, they do offer a LARGE selection of very good egg dishes. The service is friendly and efficient. But since it's the food one looks to first, I'd say these guys are at the top of the bunch here in this breakfast backwater. Even if the competition isn't great, Grama does a good breakfast. Please use distilled or RO filtered water for your coffee! Regardless, I'll be back.

The decor is great, the staff was very friendly, and the food was terrific. Portions are LARGE so come hungry. Try the bananna foster french toast it is to die for (that is what I had). The country boy breakfast wtih biscuits and gravy was delicious (that is what my husband had). Others in our group had some of the various eggs benedict on the menu and all said their food was great.
