This used to be our breakfast staple. Now not so much. A few items, like the sour dough flap jacks and German pancakes, are excellent and the bacon is served just the way I like it but generally the quality has gone down in the last few years. We only go here when one of the two items mentioned above is a must have ( 1 out of 20 times).

I ordered a bacon and cheese omelet(way over cooked and dry), in the middle of my meal i had forgot to get an orange juice. So i did just that. I got my bill and the 12 ounce glass of OJ cost me 4.50$ I dont know what they are thinking but i will never go to that restaurant again.

I'm not sure if the ownership has changed hands recently, but this place does not deserve a good rating. Their food is dry and bland, which you need to wait at least an hour to get. The pancake variety is interesting, and they have many unique dishes, but believe me its not worth the wait. I have been to this restaurant twice now and needless to say I will never go there again, nor will I recommend it to anyone I know.

I was in San Jose with my family and happened across the first review. We ate here twice and loved it both times. Very good coffee. Tremendous variety of pancakes and other items. Friendly and accommodating staff. They care about serving a good meal and it shows.

This has got to be one of the best chain restaurants. If you are familiar with this chain, you know what to expect, a bit of a wait to be seated at prime breakfast time and great selections.

The food is great, the portions large and the service has been good so far. You never know if you will get someone having a bad day, but that goes both ways. Be pleasant and expect pleasant and polite service.

If nothing else let this be know that The Original Pancake House is in San Jose.
