The Worthington Inn is a stagecoach stop. It has been a landmark establishment in the center of Worthington since 1831.
Several rooms in the oldest part of the building comprise Seven Stars. The furniture is genuine antique, and the paintings on the walls are original. The seating is comfortable. The background music is classical or baroque. The tablecloths and napkins are damask.
I ordered a bowl of oatmeal that included chunks of apple and a generous heap of cinnamon. My husband ordered a platter consisting of three eggs over easy, sausage links, big hunks of fried potatoes (obviously cut in the kitchen, not poured from a bag), an English muffin with real butter (not one of those petroleum byproducts we often encounter), and jam served in a ramekin. The plate came decorated with a strawberry and four or five raspberries. The menu also offered pancakes, Belgian waffles, poached eggs with healthy sides, and several other options.
Coffee was served frequently enough. It's amazing that coffee could be so thick and strong without being bitter.
No one smoked, and there didn't seem to be any ashtrays around. I didn't ask.
