We are not regulars so we were ignored, sure our order was taken quickly .. now they have us stuck .. food service was slow slow slow. Once my father's egg breakfast arrived he asked for salsa, we were told "we don't have salsa". My breakfast arrived (nothing grand), and my mom's didn't. I asked where my mom's was and the response was "we are cooking it" she ordered french toast, I began to wonder if they were grinding the wheat for the flour to make the bread.....I asked for a coffee re-fill, never got it. My mom's 'french toast' arrived about 10 minutes after my fathers and my meal. The french toast was terrible, it tasted like raw heavy dough.
I spoke to the 'manager' and got the cold shoulder..no we will never go back, nor will we refer anyone to this place....in-fact I told a friend not to go for Mother's Day that year, she went and was so sorry ..... lesson learned .....

Awesomely delicous food in such a gorgeous setting without robbing your pocketbook! Great eggs and maple cured ham, best home-baked bread with home-made jam. Great coffee and I also tried the seasonal pumpkin pancakes with cinammon creme -- out of this world! They have a great kids menu which includes fresh fruit smoothies!

The other thing so great about this place is the atmosphere -- a few wonderful vintage pieces which are functional, a charming indoor garden behind a picket fence is a great homey touch and there are toasters on every table so you are never waiting for your toast while your eggs get cold, you make it yourself. You are never crammed in, and the noise level is kept to a minimum even with kids welcomed! You have space to breathe and eat in peace. There are TWO fireplaces, and the service is superb. My new fave place to dine in LA!
