I am a Culinary Institute Grad and I worked with Roger Rancer the Chef of New Dawn for 8 years at Holiday Inn Four Seasons in Greensboro NC. Roger is THE most capable chef I have ever worked for and rally understands the hospitality business. He really goes the extra mile to acomadate his customers. I was down in Morehead City for breakfast this past weekend and as usual Mr. Rancer prepared a wonderfull breakfast of his signature Cottage Fries,pancakes,ham,and two eggs over medium cooked perfectly, What a gastronomic delight. Heres to Mr. Rancer and his fine New Dawn restaurant. I hope he stays there for many years to come. Christopher J. Moebes

The New Dawn owners have taken the former Shoney's and removed the buffet stations. It's a good place for breakfast (and lunch which they also serve.) Breakfast biscuits, waffles, pancakes, omelets,all the egg dishes with meats including steak and country ham. Square hash browns (with onions) are tasty and the service is great. $4.50 specials (2004).
