I have lived in Prescott, Arizona for a little over twenty years. I don’t eat out a lot, but when I do and want a REALLY good meal….guess where I go. the "Dinner Bell”. It’s real good home cooking.
And the coffee, I have never really put them to the test, but I have had 3 with a smile.
The only bad thing about the Dinner Bell is that they close at 2:p.m., Lord I wish that cook would clone himself and then we could have an evening shift.

We eat here when we travel to and through Prescott. The buckwheat waffles with bananas.... bliss! Good, old-fashioned options as well as some creative things. The kind of place where the local guys are eating bowls of oatmeal and discussing issues while tourists (like me) are fueling up for the day ahead. Comfortable, friendly, and good food.

We have been going to the Dinner Bell through several changes in ownership, but the quality and value remains the same - awesome! I love the variety of choices - I can go trendy and order an Italian Stallion omelet, or I can go home-kitchen and order chicken fried steak - it's all fabulous!

In spite of the name (which it's had since 1939) they are only open until 2PM every day, serving the best breakfast in town. Thick, fluffy, crisp Belgium waffles with a variety of batters, fillings and batters...plate-size pancakes...house-made (and house-sized!) cinnamon rolls and biscuits(with gravy). Beautiful omelettes with specialty ingredients (try the Sonoran with fresh corn, salsa, cilantro and chipotle creme or The Works with everything but the kitchen sink). The wait on the weekends for their two dining rooms (one a diner atmosphere and the one in the back like a trendy cafe. There's also a patio in the summertime) is sometimes off-putting but worth it.
And don't forget to ask for Columbian fresh-ground coffee. The service is usually quick and friendly, if a bit harried when it's really busy and the owner makes everyone feel welcome.
