I have been going to Fred's for years. If you want a great steak and egg breakfast for $6.99 on a Saturday morning, there is no better place. Everyday, if you get there by 9, you can have a free soda in the can or coffee/tea. The bacon is crisp, portions are generous and the servers are very attentive and remember your orders from the last visit.

I found this diner on this very website and decided to try it out today. I generally prefer small, privately owned restaurants over chains, but today I would have liked a chain. The food came out very quickly, but was not above average. The cheese omelette had cheap American cheese on it and the pancakes were average too. Despite the average quality of everything else, the hashbrowns were excellent. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but it wasn't "bad" per se.

I ordered the French Toast and the sausage - The plate came with a portion that kept me full well past lunch time. The sausage were very fresh still plump and not greasy. The french toast was warm, light and just great. My husband ordered the cheese omelet and a side of bacon. It came with hash browns as well. He said the hash browns tasted home-made. The omelet was light and delicious and they give you a pile of smoked crispy bacon. We got there about 7:30 in the morning on a Saturday there were just a few patrons but the small restaurant filled up fast and they did a brisk carry-out as well. The wait staff was attentive and very friendly. This was the first of what I hope will be many stops at this feeding hole !

Don't go by how it looks-- it's a little rough on the eyes. Be bold, go right in and find a seat-- even way in the little back room, and the courteous wait staff will find you and fill you up with Fred Flintstone amounts of food. Never saw so many pieces of bacon included on a plate outside of my grandmother's house!
