The Original Broken Yolk Cafe in Pacific Beach just celebrated there 35th anniversary and there's a reason why. For over three decades the BYC has been a familiar and comforting place to the San Diego community. Not only the food is tasty but the service is superb.
What I love most of the BYC is that is a family business and that they still care not only they own and run the place they are customers too. You can see the owners eating with the locals and regulars almost everyday.
The vegetarian options are great... florentine benedict, wellness wrap, krispy kale salad, very berry salad and the veggie sandwich are my favorites and the fruit is always fresh and delicious!

I dream about this place at night. I would fly down to San Diego JUST to go to Broken Yolks... and maybe the beach. These guys have the BEST omelettes. They have a tendency to get busy, but is it because they ROCK!!!

We went there on a Saturday before noon and got seated quickly. The atmosphere was nice, beachy and upscale for a breakfast joint. The waitress was nice and the food came out pretty fast. I ordered the eggs benedict which were delicous and it came with a side of fresh fruit. My husband ordered the breakfast sampler which came with eggs, country potatoes, sausages and a fresh baked blueberry muffin. The orange juice was good too. We will definitely go there again and try other dishes.

We have gone to this restaurant several times. The service has been great, and the omelets huge. Splitting an omelet is a great idea. They have a special called "the Broken Yoke Cafe Special" that includes 1 dozen eggs and tons of sides. If you finish it in 1 hr you get it for $1.98 along with a free t-shirt. However, at $19.99 it would be great for 4 to share.

Great variety. Pancakes and fresh fruit were great. The restaurant had ample seating and parking was not a problem. I would definitely come back to this place!

i love the broken yolk. it is my favorite place to get breakfast in s.d. the food is terrific, and although it is not cheap, you can easily split a huge omelet with someone and still have plenty. the best is the no name. i especially love the relaxing atmosphere on their upstairs patio. the only complaints would be that it's pretty uncommon to get more than one coffee refill, and if you go on a saturday or sunday morning, you'll probably be surrounded by a bunch of hungover p.b. club-kid idiots swilling mimosas. but the food and unique setting are worth it imho. one last plus -- if you need substututions or whatever for a special diet, it's no problem. you can get fruit or egg whites instead of the common high-fat caca no charge.
