I went to Iveys this morning. It took 50 minutes from the time I ordered to get my potato pancake. It came out burnt and they gave me the wrong sauces. I paid and they gave shorted me $3 on what I needed back for change. I then talked to the owner and he told me to go f****** f*** myself and never come back if I want to complain.
The service at this place is awful and the fact that the owner is so bad that he would do that is disgusting. I highly recommend to NEVER go here.

There was a time when Ivey's would have been one of my top 5 places to eat in Gainesville. Now Ivey's is lacking good service and the food is just okay. My husband and I have given it so many chances for a Sunday breakfast option. I have been a long time customer and know that it can be pretty busy on the weekends, but to sit and wait for a table when there are tables available is a tad frustrating. And... on top of that, when were seated no one came to our table. (We waited 20 minutes at the table and decided to leave). What happened to Ivey's?

I remember going to Ivey's way back in college and while I lived in G'ville for six years. Ivey's is thee best place for breakfast! Fantastic coffee and breakfast choices. It is small but I love it that way. So get there early so you don't have a long wait! I'm in Atlanta now and can't wait to go back next weekend for one of UF's games. Ivey...no place finer! I highly recommend the experience. A little taste of Hog Heaven in Hogtown and still at the same location. Don't EVER change!

Awesome! This place kicks so much ASS! There is no place like it in the world. Where can you go for JUMBO LUMP crab cakes, organic coffee and a homemade scone or muffin? Let me know I'm down for a road trip. Love the new menu. Boom! Awesome!

The food is quite good but the service lacks. If I'm paying a premium price for breakfast, I expect better service. The hostess (possibly manager) was quite friendly and helpful, but the waiter was a joke. My wife inquired about a basic subsitution and the answere was "no". No offer of an up-charge or another way the meal could be had, just "no". Let me see, you make omlettes with brocoli and you make scrambled eggs.....so why can't someone order scramble eggs with brocoli on the side??? We asked for ketchup for our six year old son and the waiter replied "Sure you can have that, it's free." Well that's good to know you're not going to charge me for ketchup when I'm paying $9 for a burrito! Then we recieved a handwritten bill with 18% gratuity added. We handover the card and recieve the printed copy to sign with the total saying "pre-tip total" when in fact the total already included the tip. Nice double tipping attempt. I will never go back.

Sadly, Ivey has been going down to the dumps. It seems for me the amount of money it cost to eat there, you would expect better service. Rude, Food takes a great length of time, and the bathrooms are disgusting. Has this place been inspected lately?
I always referred friends and guest to Ivey's, but unless there is change, I will pass and consider "waffle house" (That bad, but at least the waffle house treats you nicer.)

Ivey's used to be a standard. We came here a lot, mostly because my husband loved the potato pancakes with garlic sauce (around $3 or $4.) I always had a hard time deciding what to order and the prices on many dishes seemed oddly high. I think the last time I went there, it was around $8 or $9 dollars for an organic fruit plate. The smoked trout scramble didn't disappoint, and the herbal iced tea was a refreshing choice.
I have to speak of this place in past tense though, because I will never eat there again. The food at Ivey's is average to good, but the service is pretty bad, even for a college town. The best way to sum up the problem with customer service here is attitude. It was tolerable though, considering it is pretty much what you get in this town. However, Ivey's takes the cake because the bad attitude here is cultivated by top to bottom rottenness.
The last time I went in to eat with my family, a woman, presumably manager, came up to my table after we had ordered our food and said to me the following: "Last time you and your family were in here you used some gift certificates that were expired. Don't do it again."
I was incredulous. My husband thought it was some kind of joke. Yes, we had been there before, but no, I had never, ever been given a gift certificate for Ivey's before. I responded to her, insisting that she had been mistaken, trying to give her an easy out for her very bold and very wrong accusation.
Then, she argued with me!! She told me she knew it was me because she remembered the children. I was fuming at this point. We should have just left the restaurant at that point. She walked away from the table. My husband still thought it was a joke. I was so angry I was shaking. I think we would have left the restaurant if my husband hadn't thought it was some kind of joke.
Anyway, I found out that this sad excuse for a manager was actually the OWNER!! What a way to treat customers!!
I told my server to copy my driver's license and I left my phone number for the owner to call and apologize. I left the license copy so that she could verify her mistake and call me and apologize for her mistake. I still haven't heard anything, and that was almost 3 years ago.

Food is OK when it is not cold but the place is filthy. Sticky tables and the cramped bathroom/kitchen area is horrible. SLow indifferent service.

I really like Iveys. The veggie benedict is my favorite. I think their menu is pretty unique. I
think that the place gets a little busier than can be handled sometimes, which I think accounts for the occasional poor service. To me, this is a good place to go for tasty brunch and conversation, I don't mind the wait.

One of my best friends always wants to go here for the potato pancakes with garlic sauce everytime she is in town. Their food is very good. And I love the menu, lots of different kinds of French toast and other goodies like trout and salmon on the menu. However, the service is not the best and they are slow on refills. They also have a very annoying habit of charging for every little condiment or sauce. Once when I asked for the cheese grits instead of the potatoes I was charged for the extra side, but I did not get the potatoes. As a result the bill was a lot more than it should have been. The same thing was true when I asked for some hollandaise for my eggs benedict. Like I said it is annoying. So if you go there and want any changes to the menu be sure and ask if there is an extra charge so there won't be any surprises.

Some of the items are over priced.
Their pancakes and french toast are delicious. Some of the food (eg. bacon) was serviced a little cold.
Service is slow.
However, the reason I will not go back there is we found a penny in two of our water glasses (out of five glasses). The reaction was "hmm, that's funny". No sign of surprise or apology.

Recently, my family and I visited our children in Gainesville, they attending the university there. For dinner we ate at Ivey's. The service was horrible; the food took over an hour and was served cool. And the hostess, Stephanie, who I imagine suffers from some disorder, was completely inefficient in seating us and getting out silver wear, didn't know if there were even any specials, and kept sitting with us. I will never attend this establishment again, and I strongly would discourage anyone from doing so.

Ivey's Grill is a wonderful place to have a quiet breakfast for two (or more; they do accomodate large parties, but call ahead). And the food is out of this world delicious! My husband took me to Ivey's for breakfast to start the celebration of our wedding anniversary just recently, after he discovered they also serve breakfast as well as lunch and dinner.
It's a little on the pricey side, but well worth it if you like breakfast food. They even have items for those who are watching what they eat for breakfast.
Thanks to Ivey's for the great experience!
