Anyone can serve a decent breakfast but a restaurant with tasty dinner selections and reasonable prices is hard to come by. My girlfriend and I visited last week for the first time. Can't believe we never knew about this place before. I had their chicken parm dinner and she had the fish and chips special.
One word: Awesome!
Blue Ribbon is now our new favorite place.

I gre up in Schenectady, NY and frequented the BRD many years ago and have since moved back to the area and we've been going there regularly since was son was born in 2004. The staff is great! I guess you'd call us regulars. Never had a bad meal there. The waitress' know us by name and the owners are friendly people who also are friendly with their customers; regular or not. Everyone seems to always have a smile on their face and the food is GREAT! It's not just the breakfast either! Those are probably just SOME of the reasons that BRD has lasted for so many years whil so many other diners in the city have since long closed!

The Blue Ribbon may be worthy of praise as a lunch or dinner place (I can't say, as I've never gone there for anything but breakfast), but as a breakfast place, it's totally unexceptional. Food no better than anywhere else, yet prices are higher than most. As for service, I don't believe I've ever been greeted with a smile. It's all business here. Get 'em in and send 'em out.

I drive with my wife from Queensbury to eat at this restaurant at least twice a month. Well worth the drive! The reason we like this place is because unlike chain restaurants they make all of their soups, gravy's and specials daily. We know we'r getting fresh food every single time and not something microwaved or frozen. And not to mention their desserts are outstanding! They have a bakery on premises. If ever in the area, I recommend this restaurant it is excellent!

Quite satisfactory for breakfast. Plenty of room. The local political elite meets in the rear section to divvy up whatever goodies there are in Schenectady.

Station8, isn't a smoke-free restaurant a much better place to eat? Anyways, I don't really agree with the other comments here. They make it seem like this place is a hidden treasure. My girlfriend and I read the reviews here and decided to try this place for ourselves as we knew the location. We found that the food was simply mediocre and that their menu was a bit pricey. I've certainly had better meals at other restaurants at a more reasonable price-range. If it wasn't for the size of the portions I would've been very disappointed. The coffee was ghastly but our mugs never wound up empty. The service was attentive seeing that it wasn't at all busy that day although I shouldn't have to resort to taking another table's creamers and condiments. Other customers that appeared to be regulars were loud and boisterous and their language was appalling. The waitresses seemed very acquainted with them with first-name conversations. Conclusion: There are definitely better places to eat in the vicinity, but don't just take my word for it, the other reviewers here loved it. Maybe they're the regulars. Or maybe I simply came in at the wrong time. But I can think of other places I'd rather go the next time I go out to eat.

The Blue Ribbon Diner deserves national recognition. Their food is of top quality, and has been for over twenty five years. It is the only place that will guarrantee you fast service with a smile on a busy Sunday morning (without taking names at the door). In addition, their mouth watering award winning cheesecake, which in my opinion is the best in New York, is well worth a visit. Consider eating dessert before your meal however, for their plentiful dishes leave little room. Left-overs are a guarrantee.

We'be been going to Blue Ribbon Resturant for several years. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinners at various times and occasions. The food is very good and the portions are wonderful. The service is always top notch and they are willing to go the extra mile for you.

Friendly service and good food, what more can you ask for? As New Yorker tranplanted to Michigan, we always stop here for breakfast before coming back home--and we never leave without bringing a couple of their cheesecakes home in a cooler!

Used to be a nice place to hang out and have breakfast before they made it smoke-free. Food is still good though and the people are nice.
