This is a warm comfortable place, where you are treated like family or welcome guest. The food is great. We have breakfast 2-3 times a week, and Sunday brunch. I would say we do dinner twice a month. Never had a bad meal!

The ambiance of Café Michel was delightful. From the colorful, but primitive, wall mural to the artful paintings on the walls, the restaurant is a delight for the eyes. We were seated at a nice table with enough room.
The menu was filled with interesting items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Seeing corned beef on the menu, I had to ask, if it was home made there or was it out of the can. The waiter, indicated it was made there so, being a connoisseur of corned beef hash, I was excited -- hash, American fries, toast, coffee. After a few minutes, he came back to check on the how I wanted my eggs. I hadn’t said and it is good he came back to check as I am particular about my eggs. I was disappointed by the hash; It looked like and tasted like Mary Kitchen brand to me. The eggs were cooked on too hot of grill so the edges and bottom had those undesirable crispy bits. It is hard to cook over-hard eggs without burning them but better cooks manage it. The multi-grain toast, was little more than warmed bread and appeared to have had a butter-like substance applied to its middle that made it soggy. Real butter was on the table so I’m not sure if or why anything was applied at the kitchen.
My wife commented that her home fries were a bit greasy, and I had to agree, mine were too. Had the waiter come by within the first 10 minutes of receiving the food to see how things were, I probably would have asked for some catsup to cut the greasy taste. I must say that we asked for the fries to be well done and they were nicely done, something that many restaurants don’t seem to accomplish.
The coffee was acceptable and refilled when needed. All-in-all, it was okay. We’ll go back, but it isn’t at the top of our list.

I ordered 2 eggs over-easy and hashbrowns.
They provided eggs and american fried potatoes. I told the waitness I ordered hashbrowns not american fries.
The person in charge told me I should of read the menu.
I think her response was inappropriate.
Had I been told they did not have hashbrowns I would of ordered something else.
at Cafe Michaels...Buyer beware....you just don't know what you will end up with for breakfast.

Sitting on the patio having the best eggs benedict and the best coffee I have ever had. This is the way I start my day now that I have found this charming little place. The village is beautiful, the sound of the train is a step back in time. It is a busy little area, and so beautiful. Great place to see and be seen, I always run into someone I know.

I think this place is great!
The portions are a lot bigger than your average restaurant. The food was just great. I found the service to be above average, a little humor, a lot of charm.
They serve Italian coffee, it has a mild flavor and is not at all bitter.

Cafe Michel is a welcome addition to Smyrna's breakfast scene, with biscuits that would make any Southern grandma proud. Portion sizes are generous, and the Eggs Newberg a lovely alternative to the traditional Eggs Benedict. The kitchen does, however, manage to consistently serve toast and english muffins that are at once charred and soggy. Enjoy breakfast, but stick to the biscuits. Service on the inattentive side.
