For those that complain cleanliness and stuff... this is a country diner. Half of the patrons, especially during the work week, come in with horse manure covering their boots and spurs. No wonder there are a few flies! If you can't handle that, what are you doing in Wilton??
I love Bert's... it's like the diner version of Cheers, everyone knows your name. I've been going at least twice a week since my mother was literally pregnant with me, 23 years ago. The biscuits are homemade every day and amazing with the gravy, huge and buttery.

All I have to say is check out their county food safety & inspection report. It's online at www.emd.saccounty.net under the listing of Bert's Diner in Elk Grove!

We recently ate dinner at Bert's and was appauled at the attitude of the staff and lack of management. After eating about half of our dinners we noticed a dead fly under the lettuce on a mexican combination plate. Horrified, we brought it to the attention of the waitress and she laughed and said that it probably "fell out of the sky" and then she went on to say that they have a bad problem with flies and the insecticide that they use makes them just fall dead while they are flying around the restaurant. As we looked around we notice about 10-15 flies just near where we were sitting. We declined taking our leftovers home and tried to call and speak with management several times. We were told that they wasn't any management there and he, the manager only stepped in for a few minutes and they never knew when. That place is run without any supervision or management and no one has returned our calls. I advise everyone to refrain from eating there.

Bert's Diner looks similar to the Fog City Diner in San Francisco, and for those who have never heard of it before it looks like a diner car. Bert's theme is a classic 1950's style joint, where you can request songs though a 25-cent mini jukebox machine at your table. The service is way friendly and the food came out pretty fast. The country potatoes are a must over the hash browns. Also the homemade biscuits were awesomely piping hot and very buttery tasting!
