In the mid of 80s, together with my girlfriend, I visited California. We Travelled the Hwy.1 from SF down to LA and back to SF, but stopped for 2 weeks in Malibu. That time we found the Colony Coffee Shop, which became our favorite Breakfast Restaurant in that area. For myself I've never had such awesome and tasty breakfast in my whole life. And I would say, still so it is. So with that experience, breakfast became my number one meal every day. Even when we came back to Germany! And today, now as I read that this awesome restaurant has gone - yep, it makes me a ittle sad. ...But no one can take my memories. For me that time, THAT place, Malibu, California was America. Unfortunately I've never been to Malibu/California again. Unfortunately, really. But like Eric Bourdon sung about S.F. in the late 60s - and for my self I would translate to California; I wasn't born there, perhaps I'll die there. There's no place left to go...

I worked as a waitress in the 70's and the 80's and it was rhe best place ever, food was awesome, customers were the best, it was all family.What did they did they do with the building, as I know they had moved it but don't know what happen after that. PLeas e let me know as I run in to a lot of people who ask the the same and have found memories.

There hasn't been anything as good to replace the great breakfasts, hamburgers, malts, pies, soups and fries at this popular restaurant that was torn down when the new shopping center was built. My parents owned it, my uncle (now deceased) once ran the pharmacy next to it and people came from near and far for the food, friendly staff and funky atmosphere ! Gone, but not forgotten . . .
