This place is a great spot for just a cup of coffee or to take your girl/boyfriend for a great meal. Take the time to take it all in, from the elderly gentleman shooting the breeze with an old war mate, to the 30 something couple in full business attire just there for quick bite to eat.

Shapiros is incredible. They have amazing deli food. Incredible flavor and it is really difficult to find a bad breakfast. It is a little out of the way downtown (they used to have a store on 86th) but good lord do they have good breakfast, especially if you like lox.

DO NOT go the Carmel location. It is done up to try and be "classy" and "suburban" and it really just doesn't cut the mustard.

Apart from breakfast they also have the best corned beef sandwiches in the United States. I am not just saying this either. I have spent a significant amount of time in NYC and Chicago. Shapiros still wins. Better than Katz's better than anyone.

This is breakfast Nirvana.
It's soul food.
Shapiro's has its roots as a Jewish delicatessen.
Omlets of corned beef,pastrami,loxs..........do you get the picture.
Bagle instead or toast.
Potato latke instead of hash browns.
Yes, you can get White toast things, but you would be more comfortable at the Mickey Dees drive through window.
Shapiro's is an institution. It has survived the test of time and for good reason.
