This place should be shut down by the Health Dept. I have been there once and thats all it took...I heard all bad stuff BUT wanted to check it out myself. First they bring you out a basket of Hard bread that has been touched by other guests and who knows who else. One of the people whom work there (i dont know if he is a owner or not)...older man has a grumpy face and is just plain RUDE...I was NO where in ear shot but heard him loudly talking down to ome of the waitress there . When we arrive he treated us like he didnt want us there and pretty much threw down the menu's on the table and screamed the waitress name and said 4. He looks u up and down when you go and look at the desserts. Like you dont need to order one! Then if you arrive at 8P like we did..he wants to leave (even though the sign says OPEN TO 10P) so the poor waitress had to tell us that their was no coffee refils because of this.I wanted to book a banquet... and so I went there to get a feel for the place , I dont like to listen to others...however they were right!!!! I took my 75 people else where ....Al's steak house in Joliet. Thats service! Great Food...go there insted..no recycled bread either!

I was a little upset with our service. This was out 1st time at Larry's we had been told many good thing about Larry's so we figured we would check it out ourselves. Maybe that is what disappointed us is it dit not live up to what we had been told. !st the waitress came to take our order and did not tell us whatthe soups or specials of the day were. Then we my son gave her his order she said what kind of soup would you like. I then asked her what the soups were and she told us but she had a little attitude like we should have known. So we all ordered our food and in a few minutes the soup came out we had 4 soups all together 3 of them were one kind and 1 was another. Well when she brought out the soup she told us there was only enough of the one soup for two cups ( this was at about 5 in the evening). I said well then give those to the kids and I will talk the other soup. Then about 20 minutes after we placed our order she came back to the table to tell me that they were out of the bread that the used to make the sandwich( french bread) I ordered and would I like to have have it on another kind of bread I told her a Kaiser roll would be fine. When she brought the food out my son and daughters plates were luke warm at best.My Sandwich was not on a kasier roll but on two dinner rolls instead. I would have thought since two of the items I had ordered were out and I had to change my order that maybe they would have offered free dessert or taken something off the bill. But that was not the case. My husband and I left saying we should have stuck with a resturant that we knew and figure we will not return to Larry's

This place is more of a family restaurant than a diner. Larry (the owner) is a community gem offering free Thanksgiving dinner to seniors. The breakfast is excellent with many specials (both on and off the menu - ask the wait staff for additional numbers). The food is well prepared and the blueberry crepes (and plain crepes) the best anywhere. The waiters and waitresses are super friendly (as is Larry) and very helpful, not to mention quick. You feel at home here.
