I suppose if you get the cinnamon rolls, you're OK. When my husband and I went there, it was packed; once we got our food, we couldn't imagine why. The pancakes were rubbery, the eggs obviously canned and watered down; the coffee was weak. Looking around, many people seemed to compensate for the poor quality of the food by drowning it in country gravy. The only reason we even give this one egg is the kitschy atmosphere.

It is worth the trip to Vern,s for the taxidermy alone, including mammals, fish, birds, etc..
The food is delicious, the giant cinnamon rolls are a meal in itself, the servings were generous and the service prompt and friendly. We had breakfast there and it was worth the trip from Denver. We will make it a point to eat at Vern's when our travels take us through La Porte. (You have to get off Rt 287 and go through town to find Vern's)

What a fun place to go if you want that 'old west' feel! Vern's even has Jackalope heads mounted on the walls and the stuffed baby bear at the entrance wears a Santa hat at Christmas time.
Vern's breakfasts are substantial and tasty, especially the yummy CINNAMON ROLLS!
