I ate at the Fifth Wheel on a weekday morning with great expectations. Everyone raves about it. Frankly I was underwhelmed. My sausage omelet was small. The meat was just a couple of link sausages cut up. The hash browns were average hash browns: Crispy and greasy. This place was just an average greasy spoon diner. It didn't impress me at all.

This little ditty is a throwback to a 50s diner and feels like it should be on an interstate trucker turnoff. The chairs and swivel stools are dark red pleather, the countertop is still linoleum and the coffee maker is like something from an old movie.
But don't let the extra-homey feel dissuade you, nor the piles of people usually jammed in the doorways during the breakfast and lunch rush or on a rainy day. Managed and served by a friendly Korean staff, it's wonderful that they got the American breakfast and lunch right. And if you ask anyone about the restaurant, from the factory worker regular, to the corporate exec, to the college couple, they'll all tell you that the food and smiles brings them back again and again.
I love breakfast foods and I usually rate breakfast places based on their omlettes. Their omlettes are by far the best I've had. They burst with flavor accompanied with a hearty serving of hash browns. I started with the staple Denver, but have grown to love their ground beef, or hot-link, and now the turkey with vegetables omlettes. But feel free to try their delicious pancakes or any other traditional breakfast right down to the steak and eggs, biscuits and grits, scrambled eggs and bacon or go for that club sandwich and fruit. You can also substitute your potatoes for rice if you want to cut back on the grease. But be sure to bring an appetite because the portions are big.
There are only 4 tables and 14 stools that stretch across the length of the restauraunt, so space is at a premium (hence the usual pile-up at the door) and the coffee comes in two flavors, caf or decaf. Though, you won't have to take out a second mortgage to pay for your bottomless cup. And remember to hit up the ATM each time you come here because like the 50s, they don't take checks or plastic.

Found this little hole in the wall a few years back...open from 6am to 2 pm daily, the pancakes are huge, they have decent grits, hashed browns, and plenty of meat all large portions. Eggs and omlets are great as well. The service is quick but the seating is limited...4 booths but lots of counter space.
