It's not real. There is no trough. There is no butter.

Free food... butter... IN A TROUGH... Lowest Common Denominator... what more could anyone ask for?
I love this place so much, but since it's 485 miles from my home, I'm communicating with their supplier so that I can purchase a trough for my personal butter stash. Soon, I won't have to worry about running out of butter when I'm entertaining clients and friends, plus when it's time for dinner, I can just line my kids up at the trough for some butter-lickin'. It's going to be fantastic. Thank you The Butter Trough!

First of all the staff was great! Especially the greeter. You could tell she was happy to work there. Must be the 401(k). Second the food was great. What can go wrong with fresh bread and hot butter. For those of us who are diet concious I only hope that one day they will open a "Margarine Trough" or a "I can't believe its not Butter Trough." That would be awesome!!!

Not the best advertisements I've ever seen - generally down-market as you might expect, which of course impacts the production values. But the butter is top notch. Probably due to the high mineral content. Try some in your coffee! You'll wonder why you ever used anything else.

This restaurant is different than anywhere I have ever eaten. Awesome family atmosphere, and best of all, totally free. If you are looking for a hearty dinner for the whole family and entertainment while you eat, this is a great place. The butter is obviously high quality! Excellent!!

So. The butter trough gives you a free meal in exchange for having listened to advertisements while eating with your friends/family. I gave it a try one day.
I dont know what I was expecting but I came out with a so-so experience. The food was free and the advertising wasn't that bad - however - the people that were eating there were... bad. Lowest Common Denominator.
