The Cafe is pay-by-the-pound steam table and salad bar. The food on the steam table is very good and always interesting. This place leans vegan/vegetarian, cruelty-free and local-source, but there really is something for everyone.
The jalapeno-cheddar grits (from a local mill) make a frequent appearance and they are outstanding. Other items include eggs Benedict, tofu scramble, bacon and cabbage saute and either a fish or chicken offering. From-scratch soups are flavorful and inventive, and can be a meal by themselves. The (drop) biscuits can be rubbery, but I think that's technique rather than age.
The salad bar has typical fruit and veg offerings, plus a range of interesting salads involving either tofu, legumes, chopped veg, pasta or sometimes tuna.
Very good Free Trade coffees are on offer, plus coffee from a local roaster (surprising, right?). Brewed coffee comes in two sizes, plus espresso drinks are available. Hence, no coffee service rating.
I'm in Good Foods literally once a week, and hit the weekend brunch buffet about once every six weeks. It would be more if I could get out of cooking more often. :-)

On weekends, the Cafe has a great breakfast/brunch buffet, including many vegetarian items, plenty of vegan items, and some for carnivores as well. The quality is excellent, and you will find creative things like breakfast fruit cobbler that make you wonder why every restaurant doesn't do such things. The choices are different every time, but always wonderful.
