Town is not a place to go for diner food, or for a cheap, quick bite - Town is where you go for a breakfast over which you want to linger with the paper and delicious Illy coffee. I used to work down the block, and after my second visit to town they knew my name, my coffee drink (americano espresso here), my favorite breakfast item (fresh granola and fresh fruit) and they seemed genuinely happy to see me. I'm not crazy about it for dinner, but it's very civilized - attentive service that doesn't intrude if you get a table, or you can sit at the bar and chat with Jemma or Tracy, the pastry chef, who is simply a magician. Have a scone. Or a muffin. Or really anything - I worked my way through the (limited, true) menu, and wasn't disappointed once. They use local suppliers where available, too.
