This restaurant should be a candidate for Restaurant Impossible. The menu is uninspired and not at all inventive, the food is poorly prepared, the coffee is dishwater, the service is slow to molasses-slow, the decor is dated and worse, the place is in need of a deep cleaning.

Perhaps the only thing that keeps this place alive is that the usual crowd of elderly folks from the nearby seniors' homes aren't a very demanding clientele. Those of us who still have our eyesight and taste buds should avoid Des Moines Creek Restaurant at all costs.

This is above and beyond my favorite resturant. It is homey, fairly quiet and their food is delicious too. I especially like their Sunday brunch. It covers all ground as far as breakfasts go. My favorite dessert is their Rasberry Devenshire Pie, there is literally nothing that makes my mouth happier than this. You can even buy a whole pie and take it with you BUT beware, any invited guest for pie will surely make it disappear before they leave, it's THAT GOOD. I think their menu is well balanced to suit all pallets. This resturant is my favorite, always has been. I now live quite a bit south of there so I'm not able to visit as much but sometimes the Rasberry Devenshire Pie calls me and down I go to pick it up, have lunch and leave with a BIG smile on my face cuz my tommy is so happy, and so are my ears because I didn't have to endure loud conversation either...Cheryl-Tacoma, WA

The place is clean, a nice atmosphere...We have eaten here several times for the buffet on Sundays, the food has been Wonderful...BUT the coffee refill is very poor in my opinion, the service is so so, even when the resturant is not full. We had to "beg" for every refill! We waited for a good 25 mins. after our order was taken for our food to arrive. My wife's and our friends breakfasts were fine, mine, however, was the worst I have had, I ordered the house special scramble, the eggs and other ingrediants were mushy and tasted very bland not cooked nearly well enough the cheese was cold , with very little melted. The folks that operate this place are nice, but there seems to be an underlying sense you should be glad they are there. When leaving the older gentleman taking my money never asked how the meal was or even worse thank us for coming...This is the same way we felt after the times we came for the brunch, but the food was killer so we came back and overlooked the ho hum service. This could be a top notch place with a little more attention to the details!
