to annonomous: where do you get off LYING?? Dixie is still open- I eat there several times a month. Maybe you are mistaking it for the one in Tuscola or Effingham that have closed. The food- all tho sometimes isn't the greatest or the service up to par, it is still a great place to eat. The rt 66 museum has some great stuff in it too- so to annomous breakfast lover- get a life and get your facts straight before you go calling someone names!!!

This is the only time in my entire life that I've walked out of a restaurant refusing to pay for a meal. We arrived early on a Saturday morning, figuring to grab some breakfast before we visited Funk's Grove Maple Sirup (spelled right) to watch them tap the trees. The non-smoking section was half a dozen tables in an unheated section, and you had to pass through the smoking section to get there. The ONLY thing I can possibly say in defense of this was that they had a breakfast buffet, which might have meant they resented having to make breakfast fresh. We skipped the buffet because it was in the middle of a cloud/crowd of smokers. My eggs were mostly raw, not to mention cold. As in a small layer of solid whites beneath raw eggwhite, with liquid yolks. My bacon was cold and not completely cooked, and my toast was flexible. My husband had specifically ordered an omelette with cheese, and it had no ingredients other than eggs. His ham was one small dessicated slice. The waitress appeared to be a high school student with a severe chip on her shoulder, and an inability to provide any beverages. We asked for the manager, and politely explained that the food was inedible and that we would be leaving. Since our sodas and water had arrived with our food, we felt no need to pay for the few sips taken. Drive the few extra miles to get to Bloomington/Normal, as there are several great places for breakfast there, but avoid this place completely. Oh, and my husband actually ate a couple of bites of his omelette, and was sick to his stomach afterward.
