You pull up along the street to the casual sidewalk dining area and you enter the place. Youbthink to yourself that this could be relaxing while taking in the local flavor. The server was friendly and quick to serve you. The food was good with a nice variety on the menu. Enjoyable experience.

Great place to bring your family/kids. They have a kid area. Also located near dog beach and allow dogs on the patio. Great local find. Coffee is Lion from hawaii- yum! The menu has a lot of options for all palettes.

My wife and I dined here after hearing about it through the restaurant walk in november. We came the following weekend after enjoying the homemade banana bread. I had the crab eggs benedict and my wife ordered the homemade banana bread french toast with a side of turkey bacon. The food quality was surprising great. They use real crab meat, homemade hollandaise sauce, thomas english muffins and their potatoes are made to order with the use of real potatoes. I inquired: they only use canola fryer oil, do not mix other foods in the fryer, and saultee them with seasoning after; so they are extra crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The best. It was very busy but as the sign states; the food was worth the wait. My wife loved the homemade banana bread french toast, which had a brown sugar topping, served with real maple syrup and whipped cream; it was like a dessert. Their menu is all by recipe and was interesting to hear about from our waitress. We sat inside which has a comfortable Hawaiian theme.
We can not wait to return and try lunch.

Read the review of Daybreak in the SD City Beat and was looking forward to some good breakfast grub, but won't go back. Coffee was the highlight. I had Egg's in a Nest with a side of Carne Asada and my wife had homestyle potatoes, a side of Canadian bacon and a slice of cinnamon swirl toast. Carne Asada was very bland, more like unseasoned ground beef. Eggs and toast was also very boring with very little flavor and tasteless cheddar. Homestyle potatoes were just deep fried frozen potatoes, again with no seasoning. Canadian Bacon was low quality, but she liked the toast. They warn you that the kitchen is small and food can take a while, that is true. It would be fine, but the food wasn't worth the wait. Server was friendly enough but pretty inattentive even through they weren't busy. Location is convenient, but next to a busy road. We sat outside and smelled the exhaust of several trucks. Much better options for some breakfast nosh can be found on the main drag in OB. The Mission in Mission Beach is a favorite.
