It's great to see an independently owned restaurant with good food and atmosphere. Shashy's mixes southern cooking with originality and produces the best breakfast in town. It says a lot when a place is always busy and the staff are the same familiar faces for many years. The coffee, tea, and baked goods are delicious and my favorites are the cheese biscuits and the greek omelette. (The lunch menu is a great as well).

In a town obsessed with chain restaurants this is a good place to eat. Food and service are okay. This place is no better than any other breakfast place in town and there are worst places to eat.

I wish I could say better things about Shashy's, but I can't. I go there because there are so few options in Montgomery, because I like that it's locally-owned, and the food hasn't killed me yet.
The place is pretty, but service is bleh - I often feel like I'm an inconvenience for them.
The food is nothing to rave about - it's very basic breakfast fare. The coffee is usually fairly wimpy and isn't especially good. Once as I was at the register paying my bill I (genuinely trying to figure out what the deal was) asked if cutting off the coffee refills was a sign it was time to leave. She asked if I wanted more coffee now. What? I'm paying the bill and leaving. Weird.
Anyway. Sure. Eat here, but don't expect much. The poached eggs are uneven (sometimes "soft" is soft and sometimes it's not), the bacon thin and cheap, the coffee crappy, the potatoes deep-fried, and the service sort of chilly and minimal.

Privately owned and operated, Shashy's is a diner/bakery that mixes comfortable booth seating with faux chandalier's in each banquet. The food is fabulous and breakfast is unique. There are a variety of interesting omelet dishes, as well as the usual morning staples. Try a Bloody Mary or a Mimosa with your meal and grab a treat from the bakery case on your way out. You won't be sorry. Breakfast is served Monday-Saturday (check for times). It is so worth a visit if you're ever in Montgomery.
