Green Bean food is always good. Service is not always good. When you get a good service person coupled with the good food they are one of the best in the state. When the service suffers....the food does not overcome the experience.
They need to get new tables and chairs. Chairs are often wobbly and difficult for people who are not young college types to sit on.
Not the best set up as often 1-2 townies take up a table for 6 while the wait line is out the door. I suggest new tables and chairs so you can get more seating.

Food is very good, I prefer my homefries deep fried as opposed to pan fried. Service is spotty, you get your own coffee from the counter, other drinks are brought to the table. The restaurant is small with the tables right on top of each other. Egg dishes very good. Very difficult to get into on a weekend.
Lots of vegan and meat dishes.

After being introduced to the big bean in 2007, it has become my all time favorite restaurant. All of their food is made from scratch and is truly original. The weekly specials menu is where they really shine. From chorizo chili omelets to banana foster style pancakes, the big bean is the most original and tasty restaurant I have ever been to.

A fantastic place! The food is noticeably fresh, the coffee is outstanding, and the service is always great. Of the other breakfast places on the seacoast, this one is by far our favorite.

The Big Bean has been a wonderful addition to Downtown Newmarket and my husband and I have been regulars there for almost 10 years. Their coffee is the best we've had in the Seacoast! It's self serve refills with a variety of coffee flavors and roasts; from a robust Italian blend, to decaf, to an enticing Mudslide.
The atmosphere is family friendly with lots of locals and university students frequenting the restaurant. Seating is somewhat limited, but takeout is always available. Try their berry packed blueberry or raspberry chocolate muffins; grilled is best to bring out the flavor. Pancakes, french toast, eggs anyway you like it, and even vegetarian meat options spark up an omelette concoction, or a chef special. They only do breakfast and lunch which is fine with us because they do it so well. Waitstaff is always friendly and available and the owners are often on site cooking and helping customers.
