They have good Mexican-style breakfasts and excellent, big omelets. They also have good biscuits and gravy. The pancakes are just okay. To get the best out of this place, I'd recommend the breakfast tacos or something on the Mexican side of the menu.

There are at least five Waterloo Ice House restaurants in Austin and each one has it's own personality (which I guess makes it perfect for Austin). It's a great family atmosphere where if you return once or twice, you will be added to the massive list of preferred guests that the servers remember by name or order. The food itself is good and usually fast, from the basic two egg, two pieces of bacon/sausage or ham, hashbrowns, and biscuits or toast, to such novelties as the migas or chicken fried steak, breakfast tacos, pancakes or omeletes. If you have little ones, or even just a smaller appetite, make sure to try the kids meal, as it will bring a nice little surprise!
