This diner reminded me of diners I grew up with in North Jersey in that they have dissertation length menus, and breakfasts done right with good homefries. Feels like home for Jersey diner fans, and that is very high praise indeed, but not a 'must-try' breakfast.

The Metro 29 diner features all the traditional diner breakfast favorites. The pancakes are particularly good, the best I've had in N. Virginia. The thick challah french toast is also worth ordering. Why only 3 eggs? First, Metro 29 provides only Kraft syrup - at least a one egg deduction right there. For the prices they charge, they could come up with something maple flavored. Second, the prices are too high. Third, particularly on the weekends, the service can get slow and border on rude. If you go, you'll have a better breakfast on a weekday.

If you like French Toast this is the place for you! It is awesome! They make it with challalah (sp?) bread that is about two inches thick. It is not over sweet with just the right amount of cinnamon. The rest of the breakfast was great as well. The eggs were cooked just right, the coffee was perfect and the waitress was excellent. One of my friends had the steak and eggs and wow it too was great!! Nice decor too. Judging from the lines on Sunday morning it is a favorite to many.
