My father and I stopped in this morning and loved the place. We both had eggs, homefries, toast and coffe and it was as it should be - delicious. My father's scrambled were like he wanted them and my over easy were perfect. The place is quaint and comfortable - I would eat there regularly if I lived anywhere close to Winsted.

The Winsted Diner was gutted by a fire in early December 2005...
This place just reopened, and the food is awesome!!! Great price... friendly service... and good environment. I will eat here again and again

Words cannot properly describe the Winsted Diner. You really have to visit it. Bob will treat you like family. The food is consistantly great! The service is excellent, not to mention the conversation. Get yourself a "doodle" sandwich or pancakes. I don't get to Winsted often, but when I do, I always stop in.

We were on vacation from the UK and were told about this place. The pancake (yes, you only need 1 !!) was fantastic. I hope it survives - if not we need it over here in England where the only American-style breakfasts are courtesy of the golden arches - yuk.
This is what the USA should be proud of & preserve!!

This is a classic roadside diner from bygone days!
You won't see this kind of *original* diner ever again! The place is 70 years old and running strong. Its owned by a fellow named Rob, who greets everyone with a smile and a personal salutation. He's full of humor and good spirits, which I found to be quite infectious.
Rob has owned the diner for 32 years and is the local expert on history of the area as well as the building itself.
Modeled on the railroad car concept of diners made famous in the 1930's the place retains its nostalgic charm. If it wasn't so quaint and fun to eat here it might be called a greasy spoon, but that would be too ingracious for such a historic lady of a diner. Good, solid food without the glitz, glamour and high price.
There are no tables inside, just a long marble countertop with good old fashioned stools. Hot fresh coffee is just seconds away and the menu is posted on a billboard over the grill. Its as much good fun as good eats!
