My family of 5 went to the Eye Opener and it was lovely. The service was top notch, although a little pricey it was well worth it. You get what you pay for. The presentation was awesome, the food hot and tasted fantastic. We have told everyone we know!

Hello, last week my son our wives and myself had a wonderful breakfast at your diner. When leaving after paying bill with credit card as I only had a Toonie with me, I ran out to parking lot to get another $5.00 for tip. When returning to BC I checked my bill and I realized I must of hit wrong button on debit machine I somehow doubled the cost of breakfast into a tip. I have tried to phone 3 times only to get recording or call back later. My credit card company has been notified and my son when he returns from business trip will discuss possible credit breakfast when we return for summer in July. Hope this gets through to you and can be resolved easily. Best regards

Like the folks above say- they overcharge on your bill, service sucks, waitresses arent that friendly! My food was overcooked, cold, and they wouldnt fix the problem. I Am Never Returning. Now I trek 8 more minutes up the highway and head to RIVERVIEW CAFE, at Lower Fort Garry! (great view there as well!)Excellent food at Riverview.

My husband and I have been to the eye opener about a year ago and had a wonderful experience, needless to say this time was nothing close. On a sunday mornng, my husbands birthday about 3 weeks ago we went to the eye opener for breakfast, there was one group waiting in front of us of 3 persons and we were told that it would be about a 10 minute wait. After waiting 30 minutes and the party in front of us being seated in addition to others who chose to eat at the counter, the hostess proceeded to sit a table of 4 that came in 15 mintues after us before us. When I confronted her she informed me that she could not sit a table of 2 at a booth before sitting a larger party of 4. I was outraged! All the tables at the eye opener are made for 4 or more with the exception of the counter and 2 tables of 2! So if you are only a party of two I suggest you eat elsewhere or go in knowing that all parties larger than you will be seated first! Best part was we went across the street to Shooters Golf Club and had a much better breakfast anyway and were seated right away!

My spouse and I went here in May/09. On a visit last year the service was good as well as the food, though pricey. This May the service was slow, I never did get my soup, others were served that had come later than we did. The servers, particularly one woman, were surley.
I had ordered soup before my meal but never received it and they didnt seem to care.
They are a terrible restaurant.

I went back though I swore I wouldn't. Eye Opener has definately lost its way. Perry's down the street is indeed the best option. I just honk and flip em the bird as I pass the blepharospasm on my way into the city. Perry's is just a few hundred metres more, and getting kinda busy. I wonder why?

We have been here many times in the past. We only noticed small changes since new ownership. Today we noticed that it wasn't as busy as usual and thought it would be OK if we sat and visited for a while. Even though there were many empty tables we were told that they had let us sit long enough. We were also charged for peanut butter( 4 customers, 4 peanutbutter) This was very insulting and small minded. This diner costs a bit more than others but it used to be worth it. All four of us agreed that we would not be returning. A fall from the best breakfast experience to worst in one visit. When we voiced our displeasure to the short haired waitress, she told us that these were managment policies.

Not very happy, ordered fluffy buttermilk papcakes 3/4.95, and coffee. Order came almost 20 minutes later, than was overcharged, 7.95 for the pancakes and 2.00 for the coffee, I RECEIVED A NICKEL FROM MY $10.00 BILL, with my tip it cost me $11.50. Pancakes were not fluffy but were rather firm and dense. Never going back, save your money go down the street to Perry's

The Eye opener has changed alot since Janet and Fred have sold it. Breakfast comes cold and portions are not as big. New owners are not as friendly. Staff isn't as friendly except for Cheryl. We use to go every weekend on both days, but now we go once in a while. Not as good as it use to be!!

BUT!!!
Bush League ( owner? ) a REAL eye-opener.
Coffee, food and service were all excellent but as I was about to leave a person I assumed to be the owner asked me if I'd mind moving to a stool at the counter as they were "getting busy".
I've never been back. I thought it was crass. Its a meal, not a contest. ...and indeed they are bone crushingly busy.

The food and service is great. My wife and I live across town and still try to go there at least once a week, because it's the best breakfast in Winnipeg.

This place is heaven for breakfast lovers. Daily specials will have you second guessing your original choice. Owners and staff are funny, and friendly, while still attentive and knowledgable. Presentation of the food is wonderful, but the taste is what brings you back.
