Large breakfast menu, many good sounding omelets and combinations. Big portions, fairly good coffee and plenty of it. The cook does a nice job, the food looks good. But waffles are conspicuously missing!
...
New place in 2012. Clean and Tidy. Easy parking, clean restrooms, minimal restaurant din. They are in the spot where Eggies Cafe used to be - and trying to re-establish the reputation.

I am from South Carolina and travel to the Twin Cities several times a year.
I would always try to get together with friends to have breakfast at Eggies. The food was always fantastic and the service always friendly. Y'all will be missed!

So sad that Eggie's is gone. Another cafe has opened there but it's nowhere near what Eggie's was.

Ray, I always wanted to be in a commercial for your restaurant - it never happened but I enjoyed all of the wonderful breakfasts that you and your nickel grill made for me. Will miss you dearly. Hats off to over 20 years of second to none service! Jimmy.

Eggie's was the first treasure we found after buying our house only a few blocks away back in 2002. My son and I frequented this small town cafe and were welcomed like family every time. (After a few visits we ironically found out that my son is the owner's 3rd cousin!) The food was always excellent. I tried the Eggs Ronaldo our first visit and that is all I would have for every visit over the next 8 years. Ray (the owner) always came and personally checked on us (and all the other customers there) to make sure we enjoyed our meal and had a great dining experience. My son and I are both so sad that our favorite little ma' and pop diner is closed. My son will miss their amazing blueberry pancakes, bacon and eggs done perfect every time... And I'll definitely miss my weekend fix of Eggs Ronaldo.

I'm a newcomer to Eggie's - only been going there since 2000. They opened in 1976 and have regulars dating back to the '70s. EXCEPTIONAL staff welcomes me by name and serves up FRESH, HOT omelets, pancakes, eggs benedict and sandwiches. I'm SO SAD to hear that they're CLOSING this next weekend - June 20, 2010. I'm anxious to meet their landlord so I can boycott any/all businesses he may own or operate...

To the staff of Eggie's Cafe:

ATT: - THANKS FOR EVERYTHING

This letter is to thank all the staff for every time warmth they give us when we come for breakfast. Their kind behavior and caring is always appreciated.

When I bring the family of 5 (a disabled mom and a disabled child) Eggie's cafe staff have always gone out of their way to accommodate us and make our dining experience excellent.

They (the staff) are very conscientious of our dietary restrictions and have always met up to it. They have always met our needs and specifications and whatever we order even if not on the menu (ex veggie eggs benedict on mash potatoes) they make sure they deliver the way the customer wants.

Thus with all having said one would say - the staff at Eggie's cafe deserves a star in Hollywood for their kind, generous and courteous character - but if they don't achieve that then they can be assured/guaranteed that they have a star in our hearts, mind and soul.

For sure we (the customers) are happy with the staff/employees for we keep on coming back for the excellent food and services Eggie's provides. You'll get an A+ in the report card and keep on the excellent work for it is 2nd nature/instinct in you and it is what you'll do best.

This has been a local favorite for over 20 years. It's a small place -- you can belly up or grab a booth. They're open into the afternoon, but they specialize in hearty breakfasts. Friendly, owner-operated, inviting and satisfying!
