New Mexican-American at it's best. Sombreros, Zarapes, Folk dresses and blankets adorn the walls. The "church pew" style booths provides privacy which I must confess, I was not impressed. I ordered the "infamous" breakfast burrito in green sauce. The burrito was floating in the green chili sauce which quite frankly, was bland. It made my burritto soggy which is a big no, no. Was I at the restaurant everyone was talking about? Yup, i sure was. Oh well, next time I'll try the Huevos Rancheros where I know I'll be getting soggy tortillas.

There is only one place to have breakfast in Santa Fe, and that is Tia Sophia's. And there is no doubt about what to order: it will be their famous breakfast burrito, with red sauce. Oh, my goodness... This is Northern New Mexico cuisine at it's best.
Come hungry, but be sure to leave some room for chile rellenos New Mexican style at "Dave's Not Here for lunch." and for cheese enchiladas with red sauce at "The Shed for dinner."
Note: I selected "classy joint" only because there is no option for "legendary classic." This is a justly beloved local's spot--a piece of the real old Santa Fe, just steps from the Plaza. This is a funky joint, a classic hole in the wall, but with superb Santa Fe ambiance.
