I don't get it!! It seems like every week there is some comment in the Asbury Park Press about how wonderful this place is. One week it's how great their burgers are. Another it's how friendly they are. I have been to this place at their various locations and have found it to be okay but certainly not as great as everybody seems to think it is. The parking lot is full whenever we pass the place. We have visited over 150 restaurants in New Jersey just for breakfast. And we have written up some of those on My Breakfast, but we don't understand why everybody loves this place. First of all, they don't take credit or debit cards, but they have an ATM machine there to use, but you have to pay fee here and then at your bank. Second, they are not that friendly. I have found them to be phonies with all of that so called friendliness. Third, the menu, the wait staff, the mismatched plates, serving utensils, cups, etc gets tiresome. Fourth, the clutter. I can only conclude that the people who go there haven't been to other places like we have to compare. Each year the Press asks readers to pick their best this and that. Every year, this place finishes first in many categories. For instance, this year they were voted the best brunch. They don't serve brunch so I don't know where that comes from. Also, I think they supposedly had the best bar b q (?) It goes on and on. I may try going here again, but I go with much apprehension. I wish others who have never been here, would give it a try and give their honest opions.

We just ate at Shut Up and Eat 1/31/2015, the food is good but the décor had a lot of dust on it! Please clean the dust off the pictures etc... first impressions are lasting impressions.

Are we the only ones that can't understand why this place keeps getting best awards in the Asbury Park Press. Now they are being voted as having the best brunch. Didn't know they had one. Also the best BarBQ. Give me a break!! What does this mean? In second and third places are actual BarBQ restaurants. I can't imagine what people are looking for in a restaurant. I have been to this place at their various locations over the years thinking maybe we missed something. But no!! Same old same old. They must pay people or coerse them someway to vote for them year after year. Reminds me of when the Cincinnatii Reds fans stuffed the ballot boxes for Reds players for the All Star game. I wont be surprised if next year this place is picked as the best dry cleaner or bakery or shoe repair shop. They are making a farce of the whole voting thing. The good thing is that the really good places we go to are not being bothered by the customers of Shut Your Mouth.

This place was recently picked by New Jersey Monthly as one of the best breakfast places in New Jersey. I don't know why!! Please read my previous reviews. I can only conclude that their loyal cusomters push for this. The Asbury Park Press newspaper also rates this as favorite breakfast place. I've been to three of their locations and cannot understand why people think it's so great. I urge anyone reading my comments to try "Shut" and give your honest opinion. OVER RATED!!!

Well now I know why this restaurant has moved so many times. This is their 4th location. It's to house all the "junk" (they'd probably call it memorabilia) that they've accumulated. The place is over-run and cluttered with this stuff. I've been to many breakfast spots that display this kind of stuff and they all do it much better than here. They are now housed in the former "Friendly's" on Route 166 (9) in Toms River. Their claim to "fame" if you will is that all the wait staff wears pjs. Also mismatched dishes, flatware, cups, glasses, etc. Instead of napkins, each table has a roll of paper towels for your use. The tables and chairs are mismatched too. Also odd prices for things. The staff are very nice. The breakfast food was OK. It took longer than it should have to be served though. They don't take credit cards, but they do have a "convenient" ATM machine nearby as you walk in that charges 99cents. We didn't expect this so we were also billed $2 by our bank. I had an eggs benedict that they call a beny. Just OK and skimpy. My spouse had eggs over with hash. This is my nomination for the strangest hash ever. It was thinly sliced potatoes with some pepper and onions and a sprinkling of corned beef. As you leave, they yell out a phony "good bye". For some reason the Asbury Press has given them the best of in several categories. I expect it was the owner getting people to flood the paper with votes. We weren't impressed and will not be going back again.

This place is now at it's fourth location in the last 8 or 9 years. I wonder why they keep moving. Recently they won a lot of "bests" awards in the regional newspaper. A lot of people love this place. We've been there 2 or 3 times. Nothing special. But gimmicky. Odd prices like 69 cents for toast or $1.13 for something else. Just as an example. If you come in pajamas, I think you get breakfast free. If you bring your own coffee cup, you get free coffee. It's OK, but not the rave that everybody locally gives it.

The friendliest, homliest place we've ever been in. The staff all wear pajamas and invite you to as well! They'll even give you a discount if you do. Award winning breakfast and lunch - everything is homemade, you can have breakfast for four for less than $15.
