We have heard lots of waffle house regulars tell us how much they love the place so we finally tried it out. Service varies a lot by location. We found that our local restaurants here in columbus ha to be pretty good. I mean...good food fast friendly service...what's not to like

the food is good when you cook it the right way. i was a cook in the ridgeway store in south carolina. i loved my job. just hated who ran it. i constantly got my weekly grill bonus stole from me. i know the rest were getting theres i saw thereprint outs. the relief manager was working second shift and i was on third. he was dumbing food cost onto my shift to make himself look better. i know how he did it. i did floor audites and saw the pull for the day. so i can see whats going on. not to mention i was making 6.80 for 8 months when i was cooking between 1000 and 1500 every weekend. it took black mail to get a transfer. i thought it was better in blythewood till the manager slept with my fiance and was stealing my bonuses as well. he claims food cost was the issue. our store was number one for two months. food cost was no issue. and then when i left to move back to california he stole my vacation check from me. i received it one week after i left and corporate said it was paid out at the unit. hard for that to happen if im 3000 miles away. i love the food but hate the people running it. always taking others triumphs for themselves.

Me and two friends were in the Waffle House today on the Manchester Expressway in Columbus Georgia. We were the only three customers there. We had eaten and began chatting. The music speaker was right above our head. It was so loud we couldn't hardly hear ourselves. The waitress was asked to please turn it down. It was one of those hideous rap songs.

She came up with every excuse in the world not to turn it down. One of my friends who happened to have been in the jutebox business got up and he and the waitress went over to the jutebox and finally got the noise cut down. This particular unit is known to have sorry management and pretty much low class employees from word or mouth. This experience today there was not a good one. The waitress was simple caught lying. We won't be eating there again.

Waffle Houses in Maryland (all of them) are like manure piles and their staff loves playing in the dung. I can't for the life of me understand how they stay in business. Health departments should close them down for good. They must use the power of bribery.

Waffle House restaurants are filthy, stinky and their food will kill you unless you're one of the FEAR FACTOR people that can eat dung and not barf it up. All Waffle House locations are the same. The whold chain needs to go now. Bye Bye waffles full of rat guts, flies and manure.

Jan. 3 at 7PM - Manchester Expressway Waffle House. Worst service I have experienced in a Waffle House in 30 years. Only 6 customers and 4 employees in restaurant. Grits were cold by the time the other items we ordered were delivered. Received my waffle and bacon after I had finished most of my meal. No offer for coffee refill. The employees acted as tho they were running around in circles.

Waffle House is a huge chain; Columbus has twelve of them, and they all look alike. They are small and narrow, with barstools in a row and booths on the other side of the narrow aisle. The overall feeling is one of being cramped.

The pros: The staff is determindly friendly; they all shout "Hello!" at you as you enter. The place is open 24/7, all year, including Christmas Day. The coffee is hot and the waitress refills your cup as needed. The waffles are exceptionally good. They also have the usual eggs, bacon/sausage/ham and country ham (yay!), toast or English waffle, grits-on-request breakfast platter. Everything is grilled; they have never heard of carbs. Prices are excellent.

The cons: Smoking is permitted throughout, and the places reek. The Polaris location isn't as bad as most, simply because the neighborhood is more upscale, with fewer smokers. Columbus is about to enact a smoking ban, and I can hardly wait.

Just to clerify, this rating goes to: The Mississippi Wafflehouses, especially in Vicksburg.

I've been all over the country eating at various types of restaurants even owning a few myself. The Vicksburg WaffleHouses are by far the most disturbing. They were very filthy, 80% of the associates were extremely rude and not well groomed, smoked in the dining area and behind the counters, never greeted me once at the door, the food cooked did not meet menu style, taste or appearance of the menu. Training is a joke, staff's families and friends eat for free, theft of food is high. Employee's are very uncaring of their employment. I even had a few servers tell me how much this place sucks and how they hate working at wafflehouse. If I were the District Manager, I would Fire all of the employee's, shut the restaurants down one by one for a day and conduct major cleaning, re-hire and personally oversee training, especially the cooks and stop employee theft and save the company serious losses along with bringing back the restaurant numbers to a satisfactory level of a true owner/operator. Several WH's along the 55 were about the same with one in Jackson that was found pretty clean and friendly, still the food didn't follow the menu and training specifications. Hashbrowns are just thrown on the grill instead of using the proper ring and specified amounts. Several of the WH's in Mississippi undercook their food making it tasteless and unsafe.

Will continue to investigate and report any changes.
