I loved Grub! Some of the best French toast I ever tasted. I saw an egg sandwich a table over that was the size of my foot. Girlfriend got a scrambled egg dish with spinach and said it was great. Super cute place. I'll go back next time in Hollywood.

I really enjoyed my brunch at Grub. The restaurant is in a strange location - a residential side street between Santa Monica Blvd. and Melrose Ave. It's about the last place you expect to find a great breakfast in Hollywood, but people have managed to find it and it was quite busy the Sunday I was there.
When we sat down, we were greeted at the table by a strange appetizer - a bowl of mixed dry cereal (Froot Loops, Cocoa Puffs and Cap'n Crunch or possibly their store brand or Malt-O-Meal equivalent). It was a fun touch.
Despite being busy, the service was quick and attentive. I order the Ooh La La Egg Sandwich described on the menu as "Fluffy scrambled Eggs, gooey Cheddar Cheese, two slices of our Sweet & Sassy Bacon sandwiched between two slices of our Croissant French Toast, served with a side of Maple Syrup."
This sandwich was a monster. The Croissant French Toast was a little too well-done (nearly charred), but besides that, I really liked the combination of breakfast favorites in one huge sandwich. I was especially glad I liked it because it was $14... the most expensive breakfast sandwich I'd had all year. Still, I recommend it.
The star of our brunch was, believe it or not, the bacon. They call it Sweet and Sassy Bacon. It appeared to be thick, quality bacon slices fried with brown sugar and cumin seeds, but that's a guess. Whatever it was... it was truly delicious... the BEST BACON IN HOLLYWOOD, CA.
Give this place a try. The food is inventive, delicious and fun.
