Gingerbread Latte
(2 servings) Printable Version
- 1 cup strong coffee
- 2 teaspoons molasses
- 1 Tablespoon pure maple syrup (or sugar)
- 1 pinch ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk
- whipped cream - optional
How To Make A Gingerbread Latte
In a small sauce pan over medium heat, combine all ingredients EXCEPT for the milk. Stir until molasses is dissolved and everything is well combined.
Place milk in a glass jar. Seal and shake ferociously until foamy. Remove lid and microwave for 30 seconds. (Or you could use a commercial frother.)
Pour milk into a serving glass, using a spoon to hold back the froth as you pour. Add the flavored coffee (for best results use a strainer). Spoon or pour froth over the top of the latte.
Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
For a big holiday effect, top with whipped cream and finely crushed pieces of actual gingerbread cookies.
This recipe makes 2 small servings (Starbucks "Short" equivalent) or 1 large serving (Starbucks "Grande" equivalent).
A popular holiday favorite featured at most big name coffee shops at Christmas time. Make it at home for a fraction of the price.
