Apple Dumplings

(16 servings)    Printable Version
  • 2 packages crescent rolls (8 in each)
  • 2 Granny Smith Apples
  • 2 sticks butter - melted
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 can Sprite
  • sprinkle of cinnamon
Peel and core the apples. Cut each one into 8 slices.

Place one apple slice in each crescent roll triangle - wrap and place in sprayed pan.

Combine melted butter with sugar and pour over wrapped apples in pan.

Then pour Sprite over all ingredients
Sprinkle with cinnamon.

Bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes. Then, turn off oven and leave dumplings for another 15 minutes. Remove & enjoy!

This unique recipe uses Sprite soda pop! It's Apple Dumpling Gang-busters! You can use any apple but I find Granny Smith apples definitely work best.

I use 1 cup sugar and 1 stick butter; occasionally substitute Mt. Dew for the Sprite. No matter which, it always disappears!

Some people use Mountain Dew for this recipe but it is TOO sweet so I stick to the Sprite & use less sugar than it calls for. I am a diabetic. Wherever I take this dish I never bring any home.

Awesome recipe! Never have liked baked apples, but my daughter introduced me to this recipe, and it's fantastic, and EASY!

Yeah! Yeah! Delicious! Can I replace the Sprite with something I always have at home for next time? Like Sprite. But only have it rarely.

Do you use the whole can of Sprite on the apple dumplings?

This is a favorite recipe at my house. Everyone who has eaten this loves it. Kari I, I'm not sure what happened at your oven the day you made this but my college aged kids want this everytime they come home.

I made it for a company breakfast. Before I could even get them wrapped up to take to work, I had to fight my husband to keep him out of them. This is now a favorite dish at my office and at home. And it is easy!!!

I just made this recipe I am a experienced cook. But these didn't turn out at all. First of all the crescent rolls I could get were 6 to a pack not 8, which sent the proportions off to begin with. It does not say how much Sprite to pore over it just calls for a can. I used the "can". When I took them out they were floating in a Sprite and butter bath and the bottoms were even close to being done. A total flop as I see it. Not a good day for baking at my house because of this recipe.
