Puffins - Pumpkin
Introduced in 2015
This limited edition, gluten free cereal indicates on the front of the box that it is "made with real pumpkin" and has "only 5g sugar" (per serving). Graphics show a puffin (a bird with a brightly colored beak) perched on top of a large orange pumpkin.
The cereal pieces are pillow-shaped and very, very orange in color. They are quite crunchy and very lightly sweetened. The overall flavor tastes a lot like pure pumpkin but without enough sugar to be reminiscent of pumpkin pie.
The first 6 ingredients listed on the nutrition panel are corn, whole grain brown rice, cane sugar, whole grain pure oats, fructan and unsulfured molasses.

I find the pumpkin versus pumpkin spices taste to be a tasty and welcome seasonal diversion... I love the spices, but being a Pennsylvanian, I have a very warm spot for pure pumpkin. :-) A bit of a challenge to crush; I re-bag 'em and pop like bubble wrap first.

Not a fan of this cereal or the Puffins brand in general. This tasted like real pumpkin that you'd scoop out of an actual pumpkin, as opposed to being pumpkin flavored like with spices and nutmeg. It's a healthy cereal and low in sugar. But I don't like how the cereal doesn't soften in the milk after a few minutes. It's very crunchy. It's bland in taste as well, probably because it's mean to taste like real pumpkin and not like a pumpkin pie. If you like crunchy cereal and like the taste of actual pumpkin, it's worth a try. If you like sweetened cereal that taste like fall spices, then you wouldn't like this.
