Deviled Corn Cakes
(5 servings) Printable Version
- 2 cups packaged pancake mix
- 1 can (1 pound) whole kernel corn - drained
- 2 small cans or 1 large can deviled ham
Bake on a lightly greased griddle until golden brown, turning once.
Serve with maple syrup.
Makes 20 4-inch cakes.
This retro recipe is from a 1955 advertisement for the American Can Company. According to the ad, "Corn and deviled ham... make these pancakes 'something special.' The golden goodness of the corn is protected for you by a special enamel can lining, invented by Canco. If it comes in a Canco can - it comes to you at its best!"
