I eat here regularly (2x monthly or more often). My favorite item is "Kim's Fave" (three-egg omelet generously filled with cheese, bacon, and avocado and topped with sour cream and homemade mild salsa). The toast is quality bread, the plate includes small helping fresh fruit, and the hash brown potatoes are decently well done to order. Service is fast and courteous, coffee is excellent (and keeps coming). The only downside -- the place is small, there are few tables, and I don't usually wait if I see a line waiting for a table.

I used to live a few blocks from this place and went there all the time. I was shocked at how cheap the food is and how huge the servings are! The place is small, but we never waited more than 15 minutes or so for a table. If your in the area give it a try!

High prices just add insult to injury in this place, as the food tastes like college dorm food.
The pancakes are like sponges soaked in maple syrup. Rubbery and able to hold their form long after one starts chewing. My girlfriend described it as 'disgusting' but I'd describe it as a creative solution to the problem of how to drink syrup without having to look like your drinking syrup.
Eggs were old and the yolks that neon orange-yellow that means they are months old. Bacon was bland and cheap. Waitress looked like she was gonna shank me then decided I was alright. Got super friendly as we paid, but was really quite distant and offended by our presence previously.

I don't get the hype. I make a better breakfast. Service is good but they have an attidude of I hate working here. The food is not in anyway exceptional. The coffee sucks. I don't get why anyone would stand in line to eat here.

Line was long, didn't even get to try the food, didn't want to after seeing how the cooks handled the food. Using their hands to physically touch the foods to put on the plates is totally NOT acceptable. I walked out as soon as I saw this. If any of you have been in there, its a small dive and the cooks are in plain view. I'd hate to see what they do with the food behind closed doors.

The wait to get a table at this restaurant was rediculously long but worth it because the food was delicious! This little breakfast joint has amzaing omelettes and great biscuits and gravy. I never had any problems coffee refills. The only downfall to this breakfast place was going to the bathroom. Waiting in line next to a discusting kitchen sink (I think), was not pleasant. The back area needed a good scrub down. Great food!!!! Long wait.

After all the wonderful reviews we had to try this place. The first time we went, our experience was good! The food portions were large, the food was tasty, coffee was wonderful. So we thought we would take our out of town guests back, we left early, (knowing that we would have to wait for the only large table there were six of us) which was already occupied when we arrived. After thirty minutes of patiently waiting for the table to open up we watched a party of three walk in the door and BAM, they seated them at the other end of the only large table. Um HELLO?! we just waited patiently outside in the cold to eat and now it would have to start our wait all over again?! Did I mention that there were other places to seat this party of three?! We will NEVER go back. HORRIBLE!!! There is something to be said about good service. Hopefully the party of three you seated after our wait will return over and over again, because we will never recommend this place to anyone!!!

My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for years. We get good service, the food is always fresh, delicious and served quickly no matter how busy they are. The coffee is roasted just around the corner and is delicious! I highly recommend.

Food was not that great and we never got a refill on coffee even though the cafe was not busy. Also the restaurant could have used a good cleaning.

This morning I found Fat Albert's on Mr. Breakfast so my husband and I gave it a try. Great advice about going before 9:00. We got there at 8:20 and was gone by 9:20 just beating a "rush". There is only about 8 tables and 7 bar stools to sit at. The food is quite reasonably priced and the portions are large. I had the biscuits and gravy (massive) and my husband the french toast. The food was definately good, but not amazing. However, the service was awesome and the environment super casual. We will definately be returning to try other items on the menu.

Worth the wait, but you may get lucky by coming in before 9AM or around 11AM (as the regulars suggest).
Sharing a table gets you faster seating. In our experience this generated some good conversation and a suggestion to hit up the wonderful coffee roaster they use (hint: their coffee is great).
Their version of hashbrowns were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Sausage was good; cheese omelette was cooked to order. Biscuits and gravy were good, but not great. The same can be said of the bacon. The fruit was abundant and fresh.
The communal experience, service, and custom coffee blend certainly made the breakfast memorable.

Recently moved from the San Jose area and have missed Gilley's in Los Gatos... VERY MUCH!! Old-style diner environment... multitasking fry cooks... the whole shebang. We found Fat Albert's on Mr. Breakfast and gave it a try today. And we have found our new breakfast joint. I'm a big guy and couldn't finish the regular stack of blueberry pancakes. And speaking of pancakes, these absolutely deserved the title of "hot off the grill." Piping hot, great, local blueberries in abundance and a wonderful buttermilk batter. My wife had one of their 3-egg omelets containing enough fixin's to choke a horse. Great place and one we will be frequenting from now on.

This is one of the top breakfast places I've been to, not just in Portland. Perfectly cooked food, everytime. Tip-top service. They have a great breakfast menu with a wide variety of dishes including some interesting omelets (I have to admit, however, I haven't had these---yet!) Overall, I'd say there's nothing to compare to F Albert's in the area!
